Booker Speaks for 11 Hours Against Trump and Musk
Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., took to the Senate floor on Monday at 7 p.m. to deliver a marathon speech criticizing former President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. His speech, which lasted 11 hours, continued into early Tuesday morning.
Despite the grueling session, Booker remained steadfast in his opposition, stating that Trump's policies have "inflicted so much harm" on Americans' safety, financial stability, and democracy.
Democrats Show Support During the Speech
During his extended speech, Booker received support from fellow Senate Democrats, including Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., who stood by him in solidarity. Murphy acknowledged Booker's determination and noted that he was "returning the favor"—a reference to when Booker supported his 2016 filibuster on gun violence.
Murphy also took to social media, calling Booker’s effort "extraordinary." Several other Democratic senators also stepped in to provide relief, speaking intermittently to help punctuate the session.

Booker Vows to Continue Until Physically Unable
Before beginning his demonstration, Booker posted a video vowing to speak "as long as he is physically able." His speech underscores a growing concern among Democrats about the direction of the country and their strategy to counter Republican policies.
